1. Breathe

I know, you do this all the time without thinking about it, but think about it now. Listen to your breath, is it shallow or tight? When stressed, your muscles get tight and consequently make breathing difficult. Take a long, deep breath and allow your abdomen to expand. As you let out the air, melt into whatever is beneath you, whether it is a bed, your chair or the floor. Do it again and release your worries. Relax every muscle. Doesn’t that feel great?

2. Commune with nature

One of the best ways to let go is to simply walk outside. Communing with nature brings forth a satisfactory feeling. There are many wondrous insects, plants, cloud formations and birds. Getting a glimpse of nature enables is to look at life through a broad perspective. Touch what you see if possible. Appreciate how soft the petals of a flower feel. Look at the tiny things that live inside the grass.

3. Dance

You are probably wondering how this can work yet you don’t know how to dance. Don’t think about dancing as what is seen to meet the standards of public dancing. All you need to do is to turn up the music and dance to your heart’s contentment. You can ask a friend to join in.

4. Smile

It is said that “acting as if” is as good as making it true. When you smile, it is almost impossible to experience negative emotions. Smiling doesn’t make you just look better, but it makes you feel better. Now you know why you should keep on smiling even through the storms life brings your way.
